Lisa-isms and Quotes
Lisa’s Vocabulary
Some of you have found some of my vocabulary funny, so I thought I’d include some of these here for more to see and perhaps use.
Giglet - A small gig that pays $50 or less or play-for-food kind of show.
Gigabite - A really good paying gig or a large tour of many shows that’ll feed you and your family for a while LOL.
Dolly Carton - A dolly to cart all your gear to the venue stage
Lisa’s Quotes:
“I like to cherish and concentrate on the sun in peoples’ hearts, not the cloud in their heads” - I try to live this the best I can - feeling anyone could have a bad day or crummy time in their lives when we meet, so I just try to look for the good in them and in the time we have together.
”Shivers don’t lie” - I use this saying when those mystical magical moments of music move me. Those skin tingling times when the music floods your emotions, takes you away, … a powerful harmony, or a perfectly placed note from a lonesome fiddle, or a crying steel guitar, or emotion in a vocal strain, or how a bass note comes in at just the right place with just the right amount of power, or even a grand pause in the music allowing the listener to feel “it” deeply until the music starts up again for more fulfilling moments. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I love those… I said “Shivers don’t lie” at a Bluegrass Jam in Millersville after a particularly wonderfully played and sung song just happened and banjo player and maker Ed Weber heard me say that. He collects quotes from folks and told me that he put that one up on his workbench at the Gibson Showcase in Nashville. How cool, eh?
More to come!
